Godís Plan, Purpose And Will For Man (you)

Before the creation, God had man in mind and had a plan for him. The plan, purpose and will of God for him is to live and reign in abundance and dominion, in this life and life eternity, as we can see from the bible. “And God said; let us make man in our image, after our likeness

; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth (Genesis 1:26).”

In the verse above,

God conceived an idea of making somebody like himself that, while he lives in heaven man will live on earth to represent him. God did this by reasoning with God the son and God the Holy Spirit on the purpose for which man was to be created. In fact, Gen. 1:26 is one of the most important scriptures in the bible because it reveals God’s intention for creation. I want to say here that all other things that were created for the five days before man who created on the sixth day wouldn’t have been created if God had not had it in mind that somebody would be created to dominate and rule over them. In other words, the only reason for God’s creation is man (Eph. 1:4a). This simply means that if man had not been included in creation, creation would have been useless.

Moreso, as we can see in this (Genesis 1:26), it is a very vital verse on which all other scripture in the bible are hanging. As a matter of fact it is the verse that reveals God’s intention for creation. That is to say, bible will be incomplete if this verse is removed. In verse 27 of the same book, the execution of God’s plan and purpose is stated. It is read as follows;

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created he them.” Here God did what he conceived. He planned and arranged all the different processes or stages that involved in creation accordingly. That is, one leading to another and beautifying or complementing each other. God so planned it that all that man would ever need were available before he was created. Let us look at this on the side of a woman with pregnancy. There is every tendency that the woman will go to the market to buy all (including clothes, cosmetics, bathing materials, baby wrapper or wears, baby food etc.) that the child would need at the day of birth. So the mother will always get all that will make the child feels comfortable before the day that she will give birth to the child. That is to say, the day that the child will be given birth to is celebration of joy because everything needed by the child has been provided. The child cannot lack any good thing neither can he go hungry.

From the above sited example, we can fathom what God did when he was creating man. As a pregnant woman, he carried man in his belly (conception) while he was creating everything that man would ever need in life. He did this for five days and so on the sixth day he gave birth to man. This implies that God planned it that man cannot go hungry

or lacking because all his needs have already been provided for by his maker before his arrival (existence). In other words, God planned it that man should enjoy all that have been made for him and not to inherit problem, setback, failure, poverty, sickness, pains and sorrows etc.

Let us read Gen 1:28;

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”.

After God has created man, he blessed him and declared his will for man in verse 28 of the same book. His will is that man should be fruitful, multiply and above all to have dominion over all created things on earth be it physical or spiritual. His plan is for man to reign and inherit the earth and its fullness. He never planned anything evil or negative for man. Let us see from the bible;

“For I know the plans I have for you

Says the lord, plans for welfare

And not for evil, to give you a future and hope”

(Jer. 29:11)RSV.

From the scripture above, we can see the plan of God for mankind. He said, for I know the plans (thought) I have for you, plans for “welfare” and not for evil. The word “ welfare” as it is used in this content encompasses all the goodies of life i.e. in health, finance, and marriage, academic, spiritual life, and life eternal etc. let me say here that God has pleasure and it (the pleasure) is when man is living in his will (total prosperity). God is very much concerned in your welfare. He cannot be happy when what he has made or created is out of his own plan, purpose and will.

The bible says God created man in his own image after his likeness. This implies that there is no difference between man and God. Man is the picture of God. He represents God on earth since he is his replica. Therefore, God created man as an ambassador to represent him on earth because he is a spirit and whatever he created is not for him rather they are for man to possess and inherit. Since God is a spirit, he will not ride cars, live in mansions or estates, owns companies etc. but he chose and ordained man before the foundation of the earth that he should show forth his praises by living in fruitfulness and dominion over the world. Eph. 1:4, 11, Roman 8:28-30; Jer. 1:5: Gen. 1:28; Isaiah 43:7, 21.

In the same Jer. 29:11, we are made to know that God never had any evil thought for man in creation. For everything he created was good. He can never be a source of man’s discomfort, failures, sickness, poverty, defeat, confusion etc. for he plans for welfare and not for evil. 3 johns 1:2 says God planned a future and give a hope (total assurance) to man that his success is guaranteed and not negotiable.
